The ceremonial rattles from SONQO are made from calabashes and feature animal and plant motifs: the condor, jaguar, snake and hummingbird and medicinal plants from the Amazon, finished with colorful cotton threads and feathers collected from Amazonian birds on the ground. Because it is handmade, your rattle may differ slightly from the photo.
With two projects in the city of Pucallpa in the Amazon region, SONQO is promoting syntropic farming – a form of agriculture in which crops also thrive in their intact, biodiverse environment (syntropic jungle care). Another aim of all SONQO projects is to integrate Peruvian women farmers into further training and decision-making processes at all times. SONQO’s charitable projects pursue ecological and social goals.
